SQL Server repair, Fort Worth area
SQL Server database suspect? Let's get your data back.
SQL Server database suspect? The data is usually still in the files. Send a sample and I will tell you what I can recover, free.
The sample check is free. If I cannot help, you owe nothing.
What is going on
A database shows Suspect in Management Studio, or the error log says the database is in suspect mode. You cannot connect to it, and the program that depends on it is down.
Suspect means SQL Server started recovery on the database and could not finish.
What usually causes it
- The data file or the transaction log was damaged by a crash, a power loss or a storage fault.
- A data or log file is missing or was moved.
- The disk filled up while the server was writing.
- Antivirus or backup software locked a file the server needed.
What to do first
- Read the SQL Server error log. It usually names the file that caused the problem.
- Copy the MDF and LDF files before you change anything, and find your latest backup.
- If a good backup exists, restoring it is often the safest route.
- Do not run a repair with data loss allowed on your only copy. Send me a sample instead.
How I fix it
I work from your backup or from a copy of the MDF and LDF files and pull out what is readable. You get the recovered data in a form you can load into a working database. I tell you what came back and what did not.
This is one of the jobs I cover on the Data Rescue page, along with Access, dBase, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Excel and QuickBooks files.
Privacy. Files are handled privately and never shared. All client data is automatically deleted and securely wiped 30 days after delivery.
Questions people ask
Should I run DBCC CHECKDB with REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS?
Not on your only copy. The option is named that for a reason, because it removes whatever it cannot fix. Copy the data and log files first.
Can a suspect database always be recovered?
No, and I will not pretend otherwise. If the damage is deep, some rows will not come back. The sample check is there so you hear that early.
Is the sample check really free?
Yes. You tell me what broke and send a small sample. I tell you what I see and what I think can be saved. If you want the full job, I send a quote first. Nothing starts without your yes.
Other errors I fix
SQL Server trouble? Send a sample.
Send one sample file. I recover part of it and show you the proof. Then I send a quote. It is a low risk way to find out if I can help, and you decide what happens next. I will not promise a turnaround before I see the file.
