QuickBooks repair, Fort Worth area

QuickBooks company file won't open? Let's get your books back.

If your QuickBooks company file won't open, the books are usually still inside it. Send a sample and I will tell you what I can recover, free.

The sample check is free. If I cannot help, you owe nothing.

What is going on

You try to open your .QBW file and QuickBooks refuses. The message is often an error in the 6000 series, such as 6000 -82 or 6000 -305, or error 6150 or 6123. Your books are stuck behind it.

The first thing to find out is whether the problem is the file or the program.

What usually causes it

  • The company file itself is damaged, often after a crash, a power loss or a dropped network connection.
  • The file lives on a network drive and the hosting setup is wrong or the connection is unreliable.
  • The file sits in a folder with a very long path or odd permissions.
  • The file grew very large and began to fail on read.

What to do first

  1. Copy the company file and its folder before you try anything.
  2. Open a sample company file that comes with QuickBooks. If that fails too, the program install is the problem, not your file.
  3. If the sample opens, copy your file to the local computer and try it from there.
  4. Try the Verify Data and Rebuild Data utilities on the copy. If they fail, send me a sample.

How I fix it

I repair the damaged company file so you can get back in, or recover the data from it when the file will not mend. I work on a copy and I tell you what came back. I fix damaged files and do not sell or support the QuickBooks program. Lone Star PC Repair is not affiliated with Intuit. QuickBooks is a trademark of Intuit Inc.

This is one of the jobs I cover on the Data Rescue page, along with Access, dBase, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Excel and QuickBooks files.

Questions people ask

Is it my file or my QuickBooks install?

Open a sample company file from QuickBooks. If the sample opens and yours does not, the problem is most likely your company file. If the sample also fails, the program install needs fixing first, and that is outside what I do.

Which errors do you handle?

Damaged company files, including the 6000 series, error 6150 and error 6123. I repair the file, not the QuickBooks program.

Is the sample check really free?

Yes. You tell me what broke and send a small sample. I tell you what I see and what I think can be saved. If you want the full job, I send a quote first. Nothing starts without your yes.

Other errors I fix

QuickBooks trouble? Send a sample.

Send one sample file. I recover part of it and show you the proof. Then I send a quote. It is a low risk way to find out if I can help, and you decide what happens next. I will not promise a turnaround before I see the file.
